There were several layers underlying thoughts which lead to the end result of this project. The object I chose, I believe was once part of some sort of machine. I chose this particular object because I really like mechanical, organic, and geometric forms. Originally i wanted to use several objects (including a clay gear, a specimine of a ruby, and a light bulb, along with my original found object) to make a conseptual composition but that idea got shot down by Jeremy. It's still a good idea though. Talking my ideas through with Jeremy lead me to singleing it down to making a form to work with my one mechanical object. Considering the object is heavy, metal, round, and has a triangle with rounded edges in the center creating intresting negative space, I wanted to reflect the round rigidness of the object, and ofcourse the triangle. Triangles being my favorite shape. Working through many sketches and ideas with Jeremy, I started leaning towards
several different pottery forms. It originally started as a pyrimid i wanted to buld, with my object being the capstone, which eveolved into a more intresting, pyramid on top of an upside down pyramid. I liked this idea and thought of flattening out the bottom so it could sit level. When jeremy saw the sketch he said it looked like what was to be a teapot. Both of us being ceramicists, this made sence and i totally saw it. With time being something not on my side with this project, not to mention my unfamilarity with the material, this was not practicle. What was practical though, was making a vessicle form.
